1 Tenzing-Hillary Airport (Lukla Airport)

We begin Everest Base Camp Trekking with a short and scenic flight to Lukla Airport. It is a 35 minutes scenic flight. Lukla airport, also known as Tenzing- Hillary Airport located at an elevation of 2840 m with runway 527 m. The airport is popular because Lukla is the place where most people start the climb to Everest Base Camp. There are daily flights between Lukla and Kathmandu during daylight hours in good weather. Although the flying distance is short, rain commonly occurs in Lukla while the sun is shining brightly in Kathmandu. Most trekkers spend a few days at Gokyo lake and hiking up to the most popular walk is the stiff 2 hrs to Gokyo Ri and also there is another option to hike north to the other lake of the Ngozumpa Glacier. 7 Chukkung Valley
